The Online Social Games Expo focused on refuting misinformation about the online social games industry and highlighting the industry’s commitment to protecting players
WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, the Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA) hosted the Online Social Games Expo, a panel discussion featuring industry leaders held ahead of the 2025 Global Gaming Expo. While the SGLA offered to join discussions occurring at the Global Gaming Expo between October 6 and 9, those requests were denied.
As an alternative, the SGLA organized an online discussion which focused on refuting misinformation about the online social games industry; highlighting the industry’s commitment to responsible innovation, player protection and industry integrity; and spotlighting the benefits the industry can provide for states that modernize their laws to support online social games with sweepstakes promotions.
The Online Social Games Expo featured the voices of Jeff Duncan, Executive Director of SGLA; Bryan P. Schroeder, General Counsel at ARB Interactive; Derek Brinkman, Executive Product Advisor at VGW; Paul Foster, Director of Yellow Social Interactive; and Eric Wright, Tribal Administrator of Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation and CEO of Kletsel Economic Development Authority (KEDA).
“While the name of our discussion was slightly tongue-in-cheek, the substance of it was not,” said Jeff Duncan. “We thought it was important to share our industry’s perspective leading into the Global Games Expo. From robust age verification and player protections to the entertainment online social games with sweepstakes provide, the Online Social Games Expo discussion covered a lot of important ground about online social games with sweepstakes promotions.”
The discussions during the Online Social Games Expo served as a reminder of the industry’s commitment to proper regulation that supports platforms, players and state economies alike. SGLA encourages state legislators to work together with the online social games industry to develop legislation that regulates these safe, fun and always free-to-play games instead of banning them.
A webcast replay link will be available for 90 days following the panel discussion. It can be found here.
