The Mechoopda Indian Tribe of Chico Rancheria has formally opposed Assembly Bill 831 (AB 831), becoming the fourth California tribal nation to voice their opposition against the bill. If passed, AB 831 would ban legitimate online social games with sweepstakes promotions in the state.

The Sherwood Valley Rancheria of Pomo Indians has formally opposed Assembly Bill 831 (AB831), becoming the third California tribe to push back against the measure that would ban legitimate online social games with sweepstakes promotions in the state.

A new bill introduced in Massachusetts, House Bill 4431, proposes a sweeping ban on online social games that utilize sweepstakes promotions. If enacted, the bill would deny Bay Staters access to the safe, free-to-play games they enjoy while exposing a wide range of legitimate businesses to unprecedented criminal liability.

Following today’s Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, the Social Gaming Leadership Alliance (SGLA) urges committee members to reject California Assembly Bill 831 (AB831), a bill that proposes a sweeping ban on online social games that use sweepstakes.
